Flax Sleep Book Club - Our Favourite Fiction in 2018

We’ve seen a lot of people setting out to read more in 2019.  While January may traditionally be a month to dive deep into the 'self-help' genre or re-read everything Marie Kondo ever wrote we have opted to focus on fiction.  We asked our respective book club members, fellow entrepreneurs and partners for their best fiction reads of 2018.  So crawl into the softest set of sheets you own  and escape January with some of these great titles.

Note: these books were not all written in 2018, just what we were reading last year.

The Power, by Naomi Alderman
Can't think of a more timely novel than this one—in which girls mysteriously start being born with an electric charge that over time shifts the power balance between men and women all over the world. What happens seems shocking until you mentally reverse the genders and realize it's exactly what has been happening through all of history!
Pachinko, by MinJin Lee
A really beautiful multigenerational story about a Korean family in Japan—the racism they experience during and after the war between the two countries, and how they survived or thrived in the wake of it. 
The Shell Collector, by Anthony Doerr
Truly beautiful short story collection by the author of one of my favourite books, All the Light We Cannot See.
